1. Booking

Workshop places must be booked in advance through the website.

A booking is confirmed once payment has been received.

Places are limited and allocated on a first-come basis.

Participants must be 18 years or older, unless agreed in advance.

Please ensure you wear appropriate clothing, boots or wellies covering the ankles ideally and long sleeve tops and trousers.

Beesuits and equipment will be provided

2. Course Description

The workshop is a 2-day practical beekeeping course designed for beginners.

The course may include:

  • Introduction to beekeeping

  • Hive components and setup

  • Bee behaviour

  • Hive inspections

  • Honey harvesting techniques

  • Basic colony management

  • Safe handling of bees

Course content may vary depending on:

  • Weather conditions

  • Bee activity

  • Seasonal factors

3. Outdoor Activity

Workshops take place outdoors and participants should:

  • Wear long sleeve suitable clothing

  • Bring appropriate footwear (ideally wellies, high ankle boots)

  • Prepare for changing weather conditions

  • Please note there is currently no mobility access to the site area.

Protective bee suits will be provided.

4. Risk and Responsibility

Beekeeping involves working with live honey bees.

By attending the workshop you acknowledge that:

  • Bee stings are possible

  • Outdoor hazards exist

  • Bees are unpredictable animals

Participants attend at their own risk.

Stealing From The Bees is not responsible for:

  • Bee stings

  • Allergic reactions

  • Minor injuries

Participants with known bee sting allergies must not attend unless medical clearance has been obtained.

If you carry an EpiPen, you must inform us before the course.

5. Safety

Participants must follow all safety instructions.

Failure to follow instructions may result in removal from the workshop without refund.

Smoking and alcohol are not permitted during the course.

6. Cancellations by Participants

If you cancel:

More than 14 days before the course

  • Full refund

7–14 days before

  • 50% refund

Less than 7 days

  • No refund

Courses are prepared in advance hence a booking cancellation affects the group preparation. Bookings may be transferred to another person if agreed in advance or rescheduled at discretion subject to availability.

7. Rescheduling by Us

We may reschedule workshops due to:

  • Severe weather

  • Unsafe bee conditions

  • Illness

  • Unforeseen circumstances

You will be offered:

  • A new date
    or

  • A full refund

8. Photography and Media

Photos or videos may be taken during workshops for:

  • Website use

  • Social media

  • Educational content

9. Liability Limitation

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

Stealing From The Bees shall not be liable for:

  • Injuries

  • Loss of property

  • Allergic reactions

  • Bee stings

  • Travel costs

  • Indirect losses

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

10. Training and Competence

This workshop provides introductory beekeeping training.

Completion of the course does not qualify participants as professional beekeepers and does not guarantee competence in managing bees independently.

Participants are responsible for:

·         Their own beekeeping decisions

·         Hive management

·         Bee welfare

·         Compliance with local regulations

Stealing From The Bees accepts no responsibility for:

·         Loss of colonies

·         Poor hive management

·         Swarming

·         Neighbour disputes

·         Property damage

·         Injuries caused by bees after the course

Advice given during the workshop is general guidance only and may not apply to every situation.

Participants should continue learning and seek further guidance where necessary.

Beehive Installation with 1:1 Beekeeping Course

1. Booking

  • Installations and 1:1 sessions must be booked in advance through the website or by direct arrangement.

  • A booking is confirmed once payment or has been received.

  • Participants must be 18 years or older unless agreed in advance.

2. Service Description

This service includes:

  • Supply and installation of a complete beehive setup

  • Provision of a healthy established bee colony and queen.

  • A one-to-one practical beekeeping training session on the day of installation\

·        Beekeeping course is the same as that of the full beekeeper’s course

  • Service content may vary depending on weather, bee behaviour, seasonal factors, and colony condition.

3. Property Suitability & Hive Placement

  • The Client is responsible for ensuring the property is suitable for keeping bees.

  • Initial hive placement remains at the discretion of Stealing From The Bees based on safety, access, flight paths, surrounding environment, and bee welfare considerations.

  • The Client is responsible for ensuring any necessary permissions, landlord consent, or local restrictions have been addressed prior to installation.

4. Outdoor Activity / Attendance Requirements

  • The installation and training take place outdoors.

  • Clients should wear suitable clothing including long sleeves, trousers, and boots/wellies covering the ankles where possible.

  • Protective bee suits and equipment will be provided where applicable.

  • Clients should prepare for changing weather conditions.

5. Risk and Responsibility

Beekeeping involves working with live honey bees.

By proceeding with the installation/training, the Client acknowledges that:

  • Bee stings are possible

  • Allergic reactions may occur

  • Outdoor hazards exist

  • Bees are unpredictable animals

  • Participation is at the Client’s own risk.

Participants with known bee sting allergies must disclose this in advance and should not participate unless medically cleared. If carrying an EpiPen, this must be declared before the session.

6. Nature of Beekeeping / Colony Disclaimer

  • Bees are live livestock and their behaviour cannot be guaranteed.

  • Colonies may swarm, become defensive, decline, abscond, or fail despite correct management.

  • Colony survival cannot be guaranteed after installation.

  • Natural losses due to disease, weather, queen failure, pests, forage shortages, or management decisions are inherent risks of beekeeping.

7. Training and Competence

  • The 1:1 training is introductory guidance only.

  • Completion of training does not qualify the Client as a professional beekeeper and does not guarantee competence in independent hive management.

  • Advice given during the session is general guidance only and may not apply to every situation.

The Client remains responsible for:

  • Their own beekeeping decisions

  • Hive management and inspections

  • Bee welfare

  • Compliance with local regulations / good practices

8. Ownership and Ongoing Responsibility

  • Responsibility for the hive, colony, and ongoing management transfers to the Client upon completion of installation and training.

  • Stealing From The Bees accepts no responsibility for losses, swarming, neighbour disputes, nuisance complaints, property damage, or injuries caused by bees after installation.

9. Aftercare & Support

  • Reasonable post-installation advice may be provided at discretion.

  • Ongoing support is not unlimited unless part of a separate maintenance/service agreement.

  • Additional visits, inspections, emergency callouts, or further training may incur separate charges.

10. Cancellation / Rescheduling

If the Client cancels:

  • Less than 48hrs days from booking: Full refund

  • After 48 hours: 50% refund

Installation date may be transferred or rescheduled at discretion subject to availability and agreement of suitable time.

If Stealing From The Bees must reschedule due to weather, bee health, queen issues, illness, or unforeseen circumstances, an alternative date will be offered.

11. Equipment / Bee Warranty

  • No warranty is provided on live bees or queens beyond the day of installation.

  • Equipment defects must be reported within 7 days of installation.

  • Any immediate issues with colony condition must be raised on the installation day.

12. Photography and Media

Photos or videos may be taken during installations/training for website, social media, or educational content.

13. Liability Limitation

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stealing From The Bees shall not be liable for:

  • Bee stings

  • Allergic reactions

  • Minor injuries

  • Loss of property

  • Travel costs

  • Indirect losses

  • Colony losses after installation

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Honey & Candles

1. Orders

  • All orders are subject to availability and acceptance.

  • Handmade beeswax candles are made to order unless otherwise stated.

  • Due to the nature of handmade products, minor variations in colour, finish, shape, and scent may occur and do not constitute defects.

2. Pricing & Payment

  • All prices are listed in GBP (£) and are subject to change without notice.

  • Full payment is required at the time of purchase.

  • Orders will not be dispatched until payment has cleared.

3. Shipping & Delivery

  • Delivery estimates are provided for guidance only and are not guaranteed.

  • Stealing From The Bees is not liable for delays caused by couriers, postal services, weather, or circumstances outside our control.

  • Risk in the goods passes to the customer upon delivery.

4. Returns / Refunds / Cancellations

  • Due to the handmade and made-to-order nature of our beeswax candles, all candle sales are final and non-refundable once purchased.

  • Honey products are non-returnable and non-refundable once dispatched due to their perishable/consumable nature, except where faulty or required by law.

  • Orders cannot be cancelled once production has begun. If you wish to add to your order please contact before it is dispatched.

  • This does not affect your statutory rights where applicable.

5. Damaged / Incorrect Orders

  • Any damaged, faulty, or incorrect items must be reported within 48 hours of delivery.

  • Photographic evidence may be required before replacement or refund is considered.

  • Replacement or refund for damaged/faulty items is at our discretion and subject to review.

6. Product Use & Safety

Candles

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Burn candles out of reach of children and pets.

  • Place candles on a heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials.

  • Trim wick before use where appropriate.

Honey

  • Honey is not suitable for infants under 12 months.

  • Customers are responsible for checking ingredients/allergen information where relevant.

7. Natural Product Disclaimer

  • Honey, pollen and beeswax are natural products and may vary in colour, texture, aroma, and crystallisation.

  • Crystallisation of honey is natural and does not indicate spoilage.

  • Keep stored in a cool dark place away from sunlight if possible.

8. Liability Limitation

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stealing From The Bees shall not be liable for:

  • Misuse of products

  • Failure to follow candle safety

  • Allergic reactions unless caused by undisclosed ingredients

  • Indirect or consequential losses

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Acceptance

By purchasing from Stealing From The Bees, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions. By booking a workshop service, the Client confirms that they have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions and understand the risks and responsibilities associated with keeping bees.
